The story as told via the game has lots of dead-ends, plot holes, continuity issues, and the more you play it, the more they can annoy you.
(nevermind V is the melee kill, shouldn't E try to knock out the monster?) I understand what you mean - I wanted to punch Prof the first time I got out of Venice with 14:30 filter, and put on the gangster armor suit and climb the ladder up the pipe to the start of the swamp, and you open the journal, and magically I now only have 8:30 air, because someone decided that 14:30 was too casual and stress-free for someone playing on Survival Ranger Hardcore.Īnd the forced events - you dump ~15 MGRs from a kalash 2012 into the face of a nosalis, when 1 or 2 headshots would normally drop one, because the script says he has to live until he swipes you and you have to tap E for the melee stab. They could have found something more elegant if they had the time. I guess some chemical company was using abandoned subway tunnels as a dumping ground?Īs for "artificially hard" it's probably because of deadlines and release dates. None of it is feasible.Īnd then the inexplicable - like the barrels of what is supposedly toxic waste in the tunnels? WTF is that supposed to be? Considering everything is irradiated anyway, who collected it, put it in barrels, just to dump the barrels in the tunnels!? Makes zero sense. They all died within months - probably sooner. Also what are they drinking, and what exactly are the survivors breathing? How are they alive? I mean the mushroom farms, the entire metro would have to be a mushroom farm and then some, But if one person eats an entire pound of tunnel mushrooms, the're eating, what, 0.10-0.15 kcal? So that's roughly 25 TONNES of mushrooms, per day. Nevermind decontaminating surface-scrounged machines would be impossible and everybody going up and bringing stuff back, metal stuff. All the things being built are just not possible. I mean no matter how many brilliant machinists and engineers survived the blast, they don't have tools and barely any machinery. The magical generators that run on absolutely nothing that power the lights and the bench grinders (that somehow work as every other machine in a fabrication shop, magical!) but apparently not the cargo cranes that have some guy pedaling a elaborate bicycle gearing mechanism because they watched bootlegged Road Warrior / Mad Max movies in their childhoods.
Making it to 7 would be 'old age' in the Metro.Īnd as for the magic, we have to suspend your disbelief. infant mortality would be insane, everything that's fatal that can be cured with an injection or pill in 2032 is right back to being lethal again. No there's no dead kids, I'm saying we have to imagine that if life is literally disposable for the estimated 40-50k survivors in the tunnels, and cancer / tumors / radiation sickness from exposure are rampant, and no medicine other than what was looted and the ~25 doctors who were on the metro commuting to work when the bombs dropped, etc. I'm just trying to get him to give it a fair shake, but sure I'll hit that. I mean I spent 10 minutes typing this, trying to convince you. I see that you've got 100+ titles and might not give something a chance that immediately annoys you, but I urge you to try again.
You are going to die - probably a lot - on your first play.Īs you can see from all the posts in here, lots of us find the game fun. That is playing correctly! :-) I know some people don't like games where dying is expected, they think dying=losing, but this isn't Borderlands. You're supposed to feel stress and anxiety and rage, so ragequitting - made better if you slam the keyboard and mutter "F THIS GAME!!" - well that would be perfect.
The only reason corpses of children and infants aren't lying all over the place is that certain countries (and certain humans!) have issues seeing corpses of children, even virtually. death is literally hanging over your shoulder every second of your existence. This is the world of Dmitry Glukhovsky's Metro 2033 novel, and life in the Metro is hard, everyone lives in constant fear, there's no food, the air is poison, there's no space, disease, residual radiation, and on and on. HviteDoden ,sure it's casual gamer friendly, but you can't run in guns blazing you will die.
